The Samsung J700 is a stylish slider phone from Samsung that is very thin and light. Measuring just 99.5 x 48 x 14.8 mm and weighing only 92 grams, this is a very portable phone that will fit in the tightest of skinnies. It looks great too with sharp lines and modern buttons. The screen is 2 inches and has some call-related buttons beneath it, all arranged around a large circular navigational pad. Slide open the phone, and the keypad also looks fantasic with very low profile keys that we have come to expect from Samsung. Colour-wise you can pick up the J700 in Black or purple.
The is a disappointingly low 1.3 mega pixel camera on the J700, and Samsung really should have done better. No digital zoom, no autofocus and no advanced camera features like geo-tagging and smile detection. This all makes for a pretty poor camera and the picture quality will show as such.
The music player will support most music formats, and includes an FM Radio. Internal memory is 10 mega pixels but this can be increased by using a MicroSD card.
There are the basic applications like calendar, alarm clock, personal organiser and calculator, but no advanced applications at all. Internet connectivity is ok with EDGE and GPRS, however without wifi and 3G don't expect it to be too fast. You can also pair your J700 with third party devices with Bluetooth.
In summary, the
Samsung J700 is what one could call a fashion phone. It looks great and shiny and is extremely thin and portable, but Samsung have let almost everything else slide. The camera and music player are very poor. The applications are just about standard and the internet connectivity is difficult to find and quite slow. Samsung could have done better.
